We introduce ourselves
Even if the career of SPM Schaefer Printing Machine e.K. rather reminiscent of an American success story – it’s a German story.
Founded by Werner Schäfer in the basement of a single-family home estate in Eppelheim near Heidelberg, the company has established itself as a “global player” in the used machine business since 1987. Today the Schäfer company has several locations within Eppelheim. The company’s own shipping company, Schäfer Internationale Transporte, which specializes in the transport of printing machines, also has its own warehouse buildings and areas.
If the company’s success in the first few years can be explained by the experience that the company founder brought with him from his more than twenty years at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, then today you have to consider the overall concept of the company if you want to understand the excellent positioning in the global used machine market .
SPM Schaefer Printing Machine e.K. presents itself today as a modern company, with the management placing one of its focuses on a management style based on flat hierarchies. The managing director’s door will never be closed to the interests of the employees. Tasks, problems and new challenges are always professionally solved in cooperation between company management and a staff. It is understandable that in such a constructive working atmosphere the motivation curve of the self-reliant employees of the second management level hardly knows any upper limit. No question about it – this motivation affects all employee levels in the company and thus ultimately the quality of the services and products.
Quality – the company SPM Schaefer Printing Machine e.K. is the only German company in the field of trading in used graphic machines that has introduced a quality management system, successfully implemented it and completed it with an internationally recognized certification according to DIN ISO 9002.
The selection of used graphic machines is also subject to high quality standards. Even when purchasing, almost exclusively from the German market, the Schäfer company looks at the machines through the eyes of future customers. Not all machines can convince the trained eye of the technician during an initial inspection and therefore cannot be considered as a purchase object. Machines that meet the company’s quality requirements are subjected to a thorough test before dismantling in order to ensure full technical functionality for the benefit of the customer.
“Every machine that we deliver – regardless of the country in the world – should be a good reference for our company on the one hand, but above all an excellent reference for our customers to their clients,” said Werner Schäfer when asked what he was considered the most important aspect of a used machine business.
